Santa Run 2010

Well, another year in the books for Santa, Mrs. Claus and The Elves.  The 47th year did not disappoint.  After some discussion with our founding Elf Fathers, we realized we were off  by three years.  After fixing the history, we once again made it happen for the community of El Dorado Hills.  The run continued in its traditions of getting lost (Chief O’Camb), albeit not as quick as Director Greg Durante; knocking off a reindeer’s head (Engineer Hughes); getting the sleigh stuck under some branches  (Lt. Thalhamer); and losing our safety elves (Lt. Torres and FF Vail).

We also had a weather phenomenon on Tuesday night of the Run.  Throughout the day, it poured in EDH, but as the engine pulled out of the barn at 1800 the rain stopped.  The radar showed a horseshoe around EDH, with rain in Folsom, Latrobe, and Cameron Park.  This phenomenon had everyone believing by the end of the Run.  T’was the night before Christmas, given it started to rain once Santa’s Engine got back to the barn.

Your elf team was able to bring a few Santa Kids along during the Run and brighten their day.  For those who do not know what a Santa Kid is, it is a child that is or has experienced a significant event in their lives (i.e., sickness, loss of a parent).  Please visit our Facebook page (El Dorado Hills Santa Run) to see this year’s photos and comments.

We are going to announce some big excitement as we head for 50 years of running behind the engine. Thank you to all who made it happen.  The “We Believe” tour continues!
