Program Information

TrainingThe El Dorado Hills Firefighter Internship Program provides an opportunity for advanced fire service training and incident response experience to qualified individuals that are seeking a career in the Fire or EMS field. This program offers a mentorship, experience and training that will help guide these individuals on the path to a successful career. This is a temporary, unpaid, non-benefited position with a $65 meal replacement stipend per shift.

The Firefighter Intern trains to respond to emergency situations and performs tasks associated with learning the skills of fire suppression (no high-risk firefighting activities), hazardous condition mitigation, emergency rescue and medical treatment, and pre/post emergency activities. When not responding to emergencies, the intern will perform a variety of tasks in and around the District and community.

Interns will be expected to provide assistance in community events, such as the Santa Run/Parade, 4th of July Parade/Fireworks, Smoke Detector Give Away, Community Trash Pick-up Day, Senior Luncheons, Fire Prevention Month, Toys for Tots and more.

Qualified individuals seeking this opportunity to become Firefighter Interns will have their Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certificate and will have completed an accredited Fire Academy or possess a California State Fire Training Firefighter 1 certification.
